Spiked Pumpkin Spice Latte

Bloggers Adam and Joanne Gallagher from Inspired Taste make their favorite fall coffee-house drink at home--the pumpkin spice latte, and then add some coffee liqueur and rum.

cup milk
tablespoons canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)
to 3 tablespoons sugar
teaspoon vanilla
teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
cup hot strong coffee
tablespoons (1 oz) dark rum
tablespoons (1 oz) rum and coffee liqueur
Whipped cream

  • 1 In 2-quart saucepan, heat milk, pumpkin and sugar over medium heat until hot (do not boil). Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, coffee, dark rum, and the rum and coffee liqueur.
  • 2 Pour into large mug. Garnish with whipped cream and a dash pumpkin pie spice.

Expert Tips

For a cold version, allow to cool, and serve over ice.

If you do not have pumpkin pie spice, make your own by mixing 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons ground ginger and 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg. This will make about 2 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice.
