Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 cups Corn Chex™ cereal
  • 2 cups Rice Chex™ cereal
  • 2 cups Wheat Chex™ cereal
  • 1 can (11.5 oz) mixed nuts

    In small bowl, mix sugar, chili powder and red pepper.

    In large microwavable bowl, microwave butter uncovered on High about 40 seconds or until melted. Stir in cereal and nuts until evenly coated. Stir in sugar mixture until evenly coated.

    Microwave uncovered on High 4 to 5 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes, until mixture just begins to brown. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container.

    Oven Directions: Heat oven to 300°F. In small bowl, mix sugar, chili powder and ground red pepper. In ungreased large roasting pan, melt butter in oven. Stir in cereals and nuts until evenly coated. Stir in sugar mixture until evenly coated. Bake uncovered 25 to 30 minutes, stirring after 15 minutes, until mixture just begins to brown. Spread on paper towels; cool about 15 minutes. Store in airtight container.
