pounds lean ground beef

ounces smoked sausage, such as andouille or apple chicken sausage

cup chopped onion
1
chopped red or green bell pepper

cloves garlic, minced

can (4 oz) mild green chili peppers
2
tablespoons diced jalapeno peppers, or to taste
2
cans (14.5 oz each) diced tomatoes or fire-roasted tomatoes, undrained
1
can (8 oz) tomato sauce
1
can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
1
teaspoon grill seasoning blend

tablespoons chili powder
1/2
teaspoon ground cumin
1/4
teaspoon ground black pepper

teaspoon salt, or to taste
  1. In a large skillet or saute pan, brown the ground beef and sausage with onion until meat is no longer pink.
  2. Add the bell pepper and garlic and cook, stirring, for about 1 minute longer.
  3. Transfer to the slow cooker and add remaning ingredients.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve with fresh cornbread and enjoy!
