Sopapillas are a fried pastry dessert. Traditionally, the sopapillas are fried, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, then drizzled with honey.

  1. Pour the warm water and yeast together in a small bowl and stir. Set the mixture aside for 5 minutes while the yeast dissolves.
  2. Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl. Once the 5 minutes are up, mix the butter and 1 tbsp. sugar to the yeast
  3. Add the flour mixture to the yeast mixture slowly. Knead the dough together until smooth.

  6. Fill the fryer with 1 to 2 inches of oil and bring to 375 degrees.
  7. Add three or four triangles to the fryer at a time; fry for 1 minute, then flip the triangles over and fry for 1 more minute.
  8. Mix the cinnamon and sugar together in a small bowl. Sprinkle the cinnamon mixture over the cooked sopapillas and drizzle honey over the top of the fried bread.
