Ingredients

: Refrigerated Pie Crust

6: Cups Tart Apples

1/2: Cup Brown Sugar

1/2: Teaspoon Cinnamon

1/2: Teaspoon Nutmeg

1/2: Teaspoon Lemon Zest

3: Tablespoons Butter

2: Tablespoons Flour

1: package Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix

1: stick Butter

1: Egg

2: Tablespoons White Sugar

1: Tablespoon Cinnamon

Directions

1 Preheat oven to 425. Unroll piecrust in pie pan.
2 Peel, core and slice apples . Mix apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon zest, and flour. Pour into pie crust.
3 Mix remaining cinnamon and sugar together in small shallow bowl.
4 Prepare sugar cookie mix as directed on package. Roll two teaspoons worth of dough into balls, then roll in cinnamon sugar mixture. Flatten cookie balls to about 1/4 inch thickness. Place cookie dough on top of apples over lapping slightly.
5 When pie top is completely covered with cookies bake in oven for 40-45 minutes. If crust gets too dark, cover crust with aluminum foil.
