I couldn't find a smoked cheddar so I substituted with smoked gouda. My family loved this recipe. We have tried many and this one is at the top of the list!

I added about a 1/2 c extra of whipping cream ( as it was super dry) and about 1/2 c of extra cheese. However this still wasn't that cheesy. Next time I make this I think I might add 4 C of cheese to make it super cheesy . And I also added diced tomatoes with chopped chili's .. Yummy! Taste was good just needs more cheese

This was very good! I didn't have smokey cheddar so I used sharp regular and added a few drops of liquid smoke instead, which worked wonderfully! I used Half and Half instead of whipping cream for lower fat and calories...and was what I had on hand. Other then that, I did it the same and it was so tasty. I'll definitely make it again.

My husband and I made this last night and LOVED IT! I eat Gluten Free and this was very easy to make GF. Next time, I think we will add Pepper Jack cheese for more of a kick. Normally, I dont like big chunks of tomatoes but for some reason this just worked well with those. This makes so much it would be the perfect recipe for a potluck or family function. This will def. be made again!

I substituted half-and-half for the whipping cream to decrease the fat. I used shredded habanero cheddar cheese and topped it with more cheese instead of bread crumbs. I thought this was good but I wish I could find petite diced fire roasted tomatoes because I don't like big chunks.

This recipe is SO delicious! I'm 22 and had my mom make this for my birthday celebration and she used all the ingredients listed- it came out absolutely scrumptious! It has a very slightly spicy taste and is the ultimate comfort food.

I have tried a few from scratch mac & cheese dishes - all left me cold. Then I tried this recipe, and thought, well that's weird, doesn't start with the flour, butter, milk base that's common with so many others. So, at best, I thought this would be really soupy, but I've got to say, this is the best mac & cheese recipe I've found that's made from scratch! Was very tempted not to put in the tomatoes, but I did, and they were very well incorporated into the recipe; I also added diced ham to make it a meal, and my oh, so picky eater husband loved it! I don't like a lot of spice, so I only used 1/8 tsp of the red pepper, will use what the recipe calls for next time. Had no problem finding smoky cheddar at the deli counter where I shop, so that was not an issue at all. Best mac&cheese ever!

My husband and I love tomatoes but this recipe has WAAAYY too many; they were completely overpowering and IMO, took away from the cheese flavor. I would recommend putting only one can of the fire roasted tomatoes in to start but to be honest, if there is a next time, I won't put tomatoes in at all!
