I'm an experienced cook, and when I made the sauce while preparing the recipe, it was really tasty! However, once the dish was done--and this only takes about 4 hours on low, plus the 30 minutes on high at the end--the flavor was completely gone. There was plenty of sauce, but it tasted like water, cornstarch, and a very slight hint of pineapple. I'm hoping to revive the leftovers with some bottled sweet and sour sauce today. I won't make this again.

YUM Very good. I cut the receipe in half and after 3 hours on low chicken and carrots were done, so I had to put crockpot on warm for a couple of hours. I may add a little more garlic and ginger next time, but loved the receipe! Will be making again and again!

This was so-so but NOT the fault of the recipe. My slowcooker seems to be a bit "enthusiastic" so cutting the time down to about 5 hours would have been more than enough (as I found out the hard way, to my chagrin!). My advice, in short - don't follow the time in the recipe, follow your experience with your appliance as they can vary and you're bound to have an awesome meal of this dish. I will note that I used chicken breasts instead of thighs and as I had garlic I had peeled and stored in red wine vinegar in a jar in the fridge, I used that with my garlic crusher instead of peeling and mincing fresh. Made perfect sense and VERY easy and fuss-free. I also used pre-minced ginger I buy in a little jar to cut even more time out of the prep.

This recipe rocks! Betty Crocker has done it once again. This turned out to be wonderful! Just smelling it when it was cooking was an indicator of how delicious this dish would be. Sweet and sour chicken is my favorite Chinese dish and now I can make it in the comfort of my home. When my husband tasted it he said it tastes just like the sweet and sour chicken you get in a restaurant. I didn’t have any garlic or gingerroot so I used 1 teaspoon of garlic powder and ½ teaspoon of ground ginger. I promise you, you will not be disappointed with this dish. This is a keeper.
