I used one large yam and had no white potato to add but this came out great! Anytime I can use slow cooker AND eat healthy, great tasting food I'm a happy camper.

This was an excellent recipe. As the previous reviewer mentioned, I also extended the cooking time to about 10 hours. I used my hand held mixer to mix through the soup to a good consistency for my toddlers, although I would have been happy eating it slightly chunkier. I also held back on the bacon but next time I won't - I think that would have given it the extra touch of salt it need (this was my fault however!) This recipe "as is" is terrific - was easy, delicious and kid approved in our house!

This was a good recipe but it needs at least 10 hours of slow cooking to get the peas cooked. I also used a blender to blend part of the soup to make it a smoother consistancy but also left some yam and potato chunks.
