My father had been searching for sauerbraten, but was unable to find a place that had tasted like he remembered. When I say this recipe I had to try it. I made it for him for father's day. When I told him I would make it for Christmas dinner he told me to give him the grocery list. He said it was just what he remembered, it smelled and tasted wonderful.

As a first generation German, I found your reciepe very much like we had in Germany and in our home here. I enjoyed your reciepe very much, I did add peppercorns and 6 whole cloves, 3 TBS. brown sugar, that is what my family always included.
