EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

Vary the taste by using black beans instead of pinto beans. If you like a milder chili, use mild salsa and a little less chili powder.

If you like, cook up a double batch of this hearty chili, then refrigerate or freeze half for another night. If you do make a double batch, use a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker.

Fantastic Chili. Made a double recipe for 4 people. I made a couple of modifications based on what I had, such as a different brand name salsa. Made it with black beans. One of the best-tasting chili's I've ever tasted. Will definitely make again. I cooked it on high in my slow cooker for about 6 hours. Turned out great.
