This is the best 'easy' recipe ever! My husband routinely rates different recipes I try. He NEVER gives a #10, but this time he did. This is so pretty when served with the pear standing up with the carmely sauce in a pool and sprinkled with toasted walnuts. I put the orange peel and the whipped cream just as in the picture. I recommend using green pears, otherwise the ripe ones would turn to mush. That is from years of experience. I will serve this at our next formal dinner party, which we host often. Trust me newbies, its great. Oh, and I used a 'heat on bottom only' crockpot. Worked fabulously. Two hours is all it takes to cook.
