I didn't want to just throw out the ham bone from the Honeybaked Ham we devoured over the holidays. So I used it in this recipe and what a surprise! The flavor of that bone plus the little extra pieces of ham left added to this recipe was a great touch. These ingredients are usually in my pantry and using the slow cooker gives me time to relax during the busy holiday bustle. Needless to say, every Christmas my family looks forward to the lentil soup more than any dish I use to make.
