Nobody's mentioned needing to add water to this - my husband put this on low in the morning and thankfully was home all day to add at least a cup (and I added more when I got home) of water, eventually turning the crockpot off so it wouldn't burn. I also used a thin cut of this steak and it basically was shredded by the time we ate it, not looking anything like the picture! Next time I'll use stew meat, and fresh vegetables - there's not enough potatoes in the frozen bag for my family! Saying all of this - the family vote was this recipe is a keeper so I'll definitely be making it again!

The Potatoes are in the garden vegetable medley bag(didn't use) I got all the fresh veggies and used yukon gold potatoes(I quartered) and did not brown or steam ANY THING in advance I just dropped it all in the crockpot(no flour, used brown gravy packet) added garlic powder, set the crockpot on low and actually due to uncontrolable circumstances it ended up staying on for nearly 12 hours, it was by far the best slow cooker meal I've made to date though. the recipe they list is a great starter, made it once and it gave me new ideas like what I listed above.

I had to alter the recipe quite a bit. I would recommend using fresh vegetables, spices, and potatoes rather than using the bag of veggies. It kind of kills the taste. I would also recommend not cooking the meat prior. Otherwise, its a nice dinner for a cold night.

Hmmm.....I'm thinking that the "potatoes" portion was missed on the recipe. Sounds like a good dish though so I'm thinking we just need to "wing it" with a potatoes portion

Title says Slow Cooker Steak and Potatoes Dinner; but nowhere in the ingredients does it list potatoes. Am I missing something??

Correction: 3 bags of 8oz veggies bc I couldn't find the 19oz bag at our store.

Delicious!! My family loved it, so easy and filling but still light. I always find myself tweaking recipes, even good ones, so here is what I did. I added 2 cans of diced tomatoes with basil, garlic, and oregano, and what was left over in the box of stock I had in the fridge bc I wanted it more like a stew. Also I added a can of corn and 3 packets of the veggies instead of 2. Finally, bc I can't help myself, I added a few dashes of worcestershire sauce and some Italian seasoning. Will definitely make again, but might add some red wine or even V8 next time to make it even soupier :)

Because I have real actual potatoes and red peppers I need to use, I looked at the recipe. Hmm. Still, it's enough of an idea to start with. I'll just put the potatoes in with the meat and onions.

ooops. Try adding 1/4 cup of jamaican sauce at the beginning. It adds a slightly sweet/spicy flavor. Just leave out the teaspoon of sugar. Added my own veggies instead of the frozen. Also used diced tomatoes with green chiles for extra kick. Wife wants me to make it again for her church dinner.
