Very nice recipe with good depth of flavor. I made the recipe as written with the exception of using crushed tomatoes with Italian seasoning, and omitting the dried Italian seasoning. Well liked by adults and kiddos. Thank you for the wonderful recipe!

Just made this for dinner tonight. Went according to the recipe but used a beef boullion cube crushed and mixed with a small of water. I used about 2 pounds of stew beef. We like the white beans so the next time I will use two cans. It was a wonderful meal with enough leftover for the two us for another meals. Has anyone tried to freeze the leftover portion since I am only cooking for two?

Made this dish a couple of weeks ago, it was very good! When I make this again, I will probably cut back on the italian seasoning as it was just alittle too much for my taste, and I will also add alittle extra beef as well. I did subsitute mushrooms for the white kidney beans (just a family preference), and used italian green beans instead of regular green beans. This is a definate keeper!

I doubled this recipe following the advice of other reviewers, using a 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes and a 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes, only one jar of gravy but two beef boullion cubes mixed into the liquid. I found beef base in the soup section of the grocery store. The Italian seasoning was a bit potent, I will use just oregano and basil next time. It also had the consistency of soup rather than stew so I will drain the diced tomatoes when I make it again. We did enjoy it but I'm sure it will be better with the additional changes. I prepped a lot of the ingredients the night before which made for a quick fix the next morning before work.

This recipe was very simple and easy. My family loved it. We ate crusty bread with it and it was perfect!! I think this one is a keeper!

I found this recipe to be pretty bland. I will try to jazz it up a bit this evening for our meal #2, but I wouldn't do it again unless there were major changes.

This was a slow cooker meal that you can leave all day while at work and just add garlic breadsticks or cheese biscuits and you have dinner ready. It was ver flavorful. I used a can of italian seasoned crushed tomatoes instead of adding it at the end.

Beef base comes in a jar. It has a paste-like consistency. It also comes in chicken and vegetable flavors. I get mine at Penzey's Spices. You may be able to order online or find in local grocery stores. I usually have the chicken one on hand as it adds wonderful flavor to just about everything: chicken dishes, gravy, mashed potatoes, cooked veggies, homemade soups. You can keep it in the fridge and a jar of it lasts for a long time!

Wow! I used so many suggestions from this panel of reviewers, and my dinner turned out AWESOME!!!!I agree with OhMercy's substitution. The spinach was so yummy in this recipe. And, I used the Italian seasoned canned tomatoes like C Jackson suggested. I also used the baby carrots like Sterniemom suggestion. But for my suggestion, I sprinkled a little shredded Mozzerella cheese on the top just before serving. YUM!! I am so glad that I doubled the recipe so we could have leftovers the next day, which was even better. I served this recipe with some sliced garlic bread and a small salad. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR GREAT SUGGESTIONS!!

Thanks, Ohmercy, for the tip about using frozen spinach in place of the frozen green beans. Good advice which led to a great meal.
