I have been cooking with the 15 bean with kidney beans in the bags for years and there has never been a problem concerning the kidney beans.....so you pretty much threw out the soup for nothing.

This soup tasted great! I just made it tonight. There were some things I did differently, however. I added 2 1/2 tbsp seasoning, 2 tsp salt, 2 tsp chopped dried garlic, and after 4 hours on low I cooked it on high for about an hour. After 8 1/2 hours it turned out perfect, and the beans were soft and cooked. But next time I also think I will soak the beans overnight.

I thought this was really good and easy. I am not eating meat so I used the veggie stock, and also added 1 veggie bullion cube and a clove of garlic for extra flavor. I also pureed the onions and celery so my 3 year old wouldn't know they were in there. I would definitely make this again, especially since it's very easy, but the recipe really should tell you to soak the beans beforehand!

We are a total meat eating family and usually no meal is complete without meat. But this was great! Very hearty and no one missed the meat! But would be great still with some chopped ham.

very good soup/stew (it is very thick), i also kicked it up a notch with some of my fave spices :) also agree with other cooks - beans should be soaked overnite 1st. easy to add in whatever you like at the time; bacon, ham, chicken, new whole potatoes, corn, peas, etc. it's hearty and healthy!!!

My grandaughter who is 9 and a vegetarian loved this soup. I used the vegetable broth and no meat. My sister had 2 bowls and plans on taking some to work with her, she's a meat eater and still loved the soup. There is so many different ways to make this, add small shell pasta and make like a minestrone soup. Ham hocks would be great also.

I use the Cajon Style 15 bean soup mix and a pound or so of ground chuck or turkey (cook it first). I also add Season-All, Adabo with Pepper and whatever else strikes my fancy when I open the spice cabinet. One VERY IMPORTANT point: I have never had any luck with this recipe unless the dried beans are soaked in water FIRST overnight. After 10 hours in the slow cooker, the beans are still hard and chewy if I don't pre-soak. This is not listed anywhere in the prep instructions and it should be the #1 item.
