  • 2 Cover and cook on low heat setting 8 to 10 hours.
  • 3 Remove beef from cooker; place on cutting board. Shred beef, using 2 forks. Return beef to cooker and mix well. Stir in chili. To serve, place 1/2 cup beef mixture in each roll and top with 2 tablespoons coleslaw.

EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

Use spicy barbecue sauce instead of regular barbecue sauce. Hamburger buns can be used in place of the kaiser rolls.

Stirring in the jalapeño chili at the end gives the beef mixture a wonderful burst of flavor.

Serve with potato chips and vegetable sticks on the side.

I cooked it on low for 8 and 1/2 hours after I saw the post below and used beef chuck instead of the other beef instead of shoulder beef. It turned out great! I let it cook for about 2 hours then I turned the beef over and then poured some more bbq sauce over it since the post below said there wasn't enough bbq sauce. I didn't put the beans in or the chili since I have kids. I used the beans as a side dish. The coleslaw is nice on top of the beef. I would definitely cook this again for my family. We had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner!!

I think 10 hours in the crockpot is too long. I should have checked it sooner but I was at work. Maybe 8 hours next time and a little more BBQ sauce. I used an apple cider vinegar based coleslaw and loved the taste with it, even though it was a little overdone in the crock pot. I will make it again and change the spoons if 8 hours does the trick!
