EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

Since slow cookers often cook differently, the first time you cook a cake in the slow cooker may take some trial and error to find the right amount of time to cook the cake to doneness. Start gently lifting the cover at about 2 hours, pressing the center of the cake lightly with your finger. If it doesn't spring back to the touch, replace the cover, and check every 15 minutes until done.

Baking spray with flour is like nonstick cooking spray, but with the addition of flour. When used in this recipe, it makes the slow cooker cleanup quick and simple!

I never could decide if it was ready or not. The sides were hard and dry by the time the center had Set. There are some things that are better done the way the bag or box dictates. I'm sorry but it was a waste of 4 eggs, a stick of butter and 2 Betty Crocker products.

Here's my 2 cents... For the brownie mix I used a richer mix and used the Betty Crocker cookie mix as recipe called for. As far as the recipe taste goes...AWESOME! If you have ever had the Triple Chocolate Meltdown at Applebees, this was pretty close to that = HEAVEN! However, because I couldn't tell from the recipe if I should make the mixes according to the box, when i started having a thick mix using just the eggs and butter I logged in to read comments and saw someone say "make the mix with box ingredients and then add the butter and eggs". Came out great. Except... as it cooked I saw that the sides were definitely cooking faster than the rest of the dessert. So, I started pushing the sides into the batter so the uncooked batter would run to the edges. What it created was a yummy cake base with gooey ooey yummy goodness. The only bad thing is it didn't really keep the cookie and the brownie separate. But, I don't care the result was a to die for chocolate goodness. I scooped out the parts that were done and served...some of the loose batter came with it but hey that made it all the more yummy. Then before it was all the way done, I scooped out the rest of the done parts with the gooey parts so when I zapped it in the micowave it would cook a bit but not burn or get hard. You just have to play with it a tad and the whole 2 hr time... just watch it. Thanks for yumminess!
