Hang on to your hat, cowboy! This hearty chili blends chunks of real steak, tomato and authentic Southwest chili seasonings.

As I've read most of the post I would advise people to omit the cinnamon and add more chili powder and maybe red chili flakes or some sort of salsa or hot sauce to give it flavor and maybe give it a little kick.

My wife needed to be out of town over night. I made this chili for me and my two kids 7 & 11. I want to have more a meal, so I put it over rice. They told ever body for weeks what daddy made. It was good, but they went a little over board, when they asked there mother, why she couldn't cook like that. We are now eating at least 2 or 3 times a month. It's a great meal for 4 around 12 bucks.

I thought this receipe was delicious. I however, did not add the bell peppers and celery in; it was still very good. The only thing I felt that the "zing" factor was missing. Still very good receipe. I'd recommend to anyone.

Excellent chili! I adapted it slightly by using fresh home grown organically grown tomatoes and peppers. Cut back on the onion and added 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes. Took it to a family gathering and thought they were going to lick the bowl of the slow cooker.

I make a lot of chili but had never made it in a slow cooker and just recieved one as a gift so thought I would give it a try. I dont live close to a supermarket so used what I had on hand. This was delicious but I did use a lot more spice plus 1/4 cup of chopped fresh coriander roots and stems included. I used very lean minced beef but it cooked down too fine and crumbly so next time I will use the suggested stewing beef or reduce the cooking time. I did not have tomatoe sauce so used a large 800g can of italian tomatoes as well as 2 fresh tomatoes and some chicken stock. I also used 3 small cans of kidney beans and add a chopped carrot to bulk of the veg and make it go further. Although I did use the cheddar cheese and some fresh coriander to serve I think sour cream would go better. I added more chili powder and some tabasco as we like our food very spicey. I added everything but the beans and then added the beans for the last 3 hours. I cooked it on high for 3 hours and low for 3 hours. It smelled divine and I can not wait to cook it again with the cubed steak. I also left out the cinnamon. A pinch probably would have been okay but I didnt fancy it with a chili dish.

This was the first recipe in my very first crock pot. I think I should of used less cinnamon since the 1/4 teaspoon was all I could smell and I ended up using a lot more chili powder. Everyone liked it, I think next time I will cut the veggies up smaller since that was the only complaint.

I have been wanting chili for a while now. My husband hates chili. I found this slow cooker recipe and decided to try it. My husband loved this. I used half the amount of cinnamon and added about 2 more teaspoons of chili powder.
