Chili seasoning and chocolate give this chili its distinctively rich, dark, smoky flavor.
lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
package (1.25 oz) Tex-Mex chili seasoning mix
can (28 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes, undrained
can (15 oz) spicy chili beans, undrained
oz unsweetened baking chocolate, coarsely chopped
In 10-inch skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain.
Spray 4- to 5-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. In cooker, mix beef mixture and remaining ingredients.
Cover; cook on Low heat setting 4 to 6 hours. Stir well before serving.
