Make delicious homemade dumplings that simmer over a savory combination of chicken and vegetables. Mmm.

I wasn't too sure if making the dumplings in the crock pot would result in gooey bottoms or not. Of course, they were perfect. I followed the recipe exactly with one exception: I substituted chicken broth for the water in the dumplings.

Overall this a fine chicken and dumplings meal. I had to make embellishments to the recipe by adding a can of cream of chicken soup and only four cups of low salt fat free chicken broth. I also used two chicken breasted halves and cut them for even portions. Also… make sure all the potatoes are cut the same size to cook evenly; and that the onions, carrots and celery are cut small enough to cook completely.

This is fantastic!! I used 2.5 lbs of chicken (half trimmed thighs, and half breast), carrot chips instead of the chopped baby carrots, and added some ground thyme. I did not use the parsley flakes. There are only a couple of changes I will make next time: I will cut the potatoes smaller (my husband loved the potatoes in it, otherwise I would omit them), and I think I am going add some chicken bullion to the broth so it will have a little more chicken flavor.

This is really tasty and super easy. It says that there are 5 servings, but this could feed an Army!!! It sure did make a ton. Would be a great meal if expecting a lot of company or if you just want to have leftovers for a few days.

This turned out really great! My husband isn't a big fan of dumplings but I really loved them. I added parsley and it turned out very tasty!

I thought this was a pretty tasty recipe. Very classic chicken and dumplings. Mine turned out a little thicker than the picture looks, but I added more dumplings because I like a lot. I will definitely make this again but be sure to plan ahead...it takes up to 12 hours!
