The family and I enjoyed this easy prep recipe. I did make a few substitutions though; I used chicken breast instead of thighs, used corn instead of peas (peas are not popular with the kids) and did not use any mushrooms (mushrooms are not popular with me). It tasted good but I guess I do have on tip for you - you need to let the biscuits cook longer than the recommended time (I suggest 40-45 min) because mine tasted kind of doughy.

I've tried this twice now, and it just does NOT work!!! The dumplings come out way too sweet for our taste and the texture is just all wrong. You're better off with making the dumplings like you would regular bisquick biscuits and dropping it into the boiling chicken stock. And for heaven's sake, leave the flippin' veggies out of it! After my second attempt of this recipe, my kids begged me to make it my "usual way," and to never attempt it slow cooker style again.

kids loved it, so easy. I did not have cornmeal or green pepper but otherwise followed recipe. Delicious and hearty on a cold winter night.

This was pretty good! My husband liked it and would eat it again. The dumplings turned out great. The only thing I'd do differently next time would be to put the peas in earlier and maybe use only half the peas the recipe calls for.

The flavors in vegetables and meat were great, however the dumplings didn't get done even after an hour. They were still slimy and doughy, and had to be fished out and tossed. I will just leave those out next time.

I loved this recipe. I made a few changes: substituted onion soup mix, added a small onion, left out the celery, and put the peas in at the beginning. I also sprinkled some garlic salt and ground cayenne pepper. Not too much, just enough to add a little heat. BUT my husband and his friend weren't fans. They said it wasn't bad, but that I shouldn't cook it again. So I guess this one depends on what type of food you like..

Totally worth the time and the wait! Browning the chicken really brought the flavors to a new level and I added fresh chopped leeks to enhance the soup mixture, which by the way is the secret ingredient! Off the hook flavor and lots of yummy leftovers! Another super big hit!!!

Made this last night and it was fabulous! A couple of changes, however: Couldn't find leek soup: substitute onion soup instead Wanted to eliminate the oil and not mess with cutting up the chicken: I used whole, boneless chicken breasts and just broke them apart before I put the biscuits in. Added pepper and a dash of salt to taste, but left out the peas. I chopped up all of the veggies the night before so that before leaving all I had to do was dump in the pot and walk out the door!

This was so good. My entire family liked it, even my picky eaters. I used Lipton Onion Mushroom Soup mix instead of the leek soup mix. Other than that, I kept it exactly the same. I will definitely be making this again.
