If I only need 1 cup of broth why do I have to buy the 32 oz carton? Doesn't make sense.

This stew recipe is delicious. For years I would make stew and it never tasted the same each time and it was always sort of blah. This recipe with the combination of carmelized onions and the onion gravy mix makes this stew spectacular. It is now my go to stew recipe. Very yummy.

This is delicious!! I substituted potatoes for parsnips, but followed the rest of the recipe exactly. I love that earthy, and yet, slightly sweet taste from the thyme and sugar and caramelized onion.

This is my new favorite beef stew recipe! The onions give it sooo much flavor, but they cook down so much you barely know they're there. I substituted potato for the parsnips. I would double the batch if you are planning to feed 4 or more people. This one is a keeper!

very good. would elimate sugar from onion preparation. parsnips give enough sweetness already.

To lighten it up a bit, I used olive oil instead of butter and eliminated the sugar all together - carrots and cooked onions are already sweet. And I HATE green peas! YUCK! I substituted green beans as I usually do when a recipe calls for green peas. If you have a picky eater, try broccoli florets or green beans instead. It's still yummy!

I tried this recipe and found it to be very good. I like a little more zing so I added a half cup of Lea & Perrins Steak Sauce in the last hour of cooking..yum,yum! I also did potatoes instead of parsnips and added green beans instead of peas and this is a very impressive dish..on my favorits list!
