This recipe is delicious! I didn't have wine, so I used beef broth with about 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar. It is so good! I definitely will be cooking this again!

My family loved this dish, even by picky 11 year old daughter. My husband said it was the best thing I had cooked in a long time.

I used seasoned chuck steaks that we had in our freezer. Didn't have any wine so I used the beef broth.I used fresh muchrooms.I added the carrots with 3 hours left, we don't like them too mushy. My husband actually had seconds. He has never been a beef stew fan. I will be making this again.

I must not have used a dry enough red wine but my husband and I found this recipe inedible. We had to throw it out. I used a tasty wine but the whole stew reeked of a sour version of the wine and no other flavors were discernable.

My husband loved this one. The only thing we found was it was better the next day after reheating. The flavours really mixed together.

My family's new favorite! This is a truly delectable meal. I used a merlot wine, and it turned out wonderful. Adding the herbed dumplings really made the meal, too. This is the kind of dish you would expect from an up-scale restaurant.

It was kind of bland. I was expecting more of a wine flavor but the tomatoes somehow took over. It was just missing something.. It was edible but I wouldn't make it again.

This is a keeper both with the dumplings and without. It is super easy, and very tasty. Just don''t overdo the dumplings as they soak up the stew. I used the Betty Crocker Heart Smart Bisquick- -a great find.

This is awesome on a cold winter''s day. I have made this several time and have had great success. I did make a few changes. I used dry mustard instead of ground, I included a couple of bay leaves. I also like to experiment with various spices. Either way, this is great for dinner along with a crisp green sald.
