Slow-Cooker Black Forest Cake

Blogger Deborah Harroun of Taste and Tell makes one of her favorite cakes – in the slow cooker!

box Betty Crocker™ SuperMoist™ chocolate fudge cake mix
Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
cup butter, melted
can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
container (8 oz) frozen whipped topping, thawed

  • 1 Make cake batter as directed on box.
  • 2 In 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker, pour melted butter. Pour in cake batter (do not stir). Add cherry pie filling, pouring into center.
  • 3 Cover; cook on low heat setting 2 to 4 hours or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm in bowls topped with whipped topping.

Expert Tips

Change it up – try your favorite pie filling along with your favorite kind of cake mix.

Different slow cookers cook at different temperatures. Be sure to start checking your cake after 2 hours – it will be done at some time between 2 and 4 hours.
