I used Kosher salt instead and added in a beef bouillon too for added flavor.

I really liked this recipe. It was very easy to put together and was ready when I got home from work. My husband loved it and was upset when I sent the left overs home with our neighbors! So, this one is definitely going in my favorites stack.

I was disappointed in how bland this turned out so avoid this recipe if you like savory flavored stews. I'm going to have to get the stew recipe from my boyfriends mom and not use this one again.

We have had this stew several times. I double the mushrooms and use pearl onions instead of chopped. Delicious!

This was very good. I had only white mushrooms available, but I'm eager to try it again with shiitakes.

I am always seeking a slow cooker recipe that is easy and not complicated. So..yes.. I have tried many beef stew recipes and by far this one is the best one yet! The only thing I did different was add more meat and used regular white mushrooms instead of shitake. I was impressed.

This is a great recipe. I used regular white mushrooms or baby bellas instead of the shiitakes. They are a little expensive. I also added some extra liquid and made some dumplings on top about 20 minutes before serving.
