Potluck favorite! The addition of coleslaw and rice makes this a more hearty beef filling than most.

EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

For a more mild sauce, use tomato sauce instead of barbecue sauce. Bone-in round steak can be used instead of the boneless steak. Cut it into 3-inch pieces, leaving the bone attached to one of the pieces. Be sure to remove it before serving.

Potato salad and carrot and celery sticks are easy accompaniments to these sandwiches. Top off the meal with ice-cream bars.

This is a great sandwich and easy to prepare. I used ground beef as it was the only beef I had, and left out the rice, thought it would be good without it....and added 1/4 cup of teriyaki sauce, with the bbq sause. Yum Yum!!! I just cook it in a large pot on the stove. I loved the crunch of the slaw, tender but still had some good crunch to it. I will be making this again.

This was really good! My Southerner hubby loved it. Very filling, and flavorful as well! I was a little unsure about putting rice and cabbage in the mixture, but it all cooked together nicely. This is going into the permanent rotation!
