Ingredients

  • 1 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese (6 ounces)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pound lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce

Steps

  • 1
Heat oven to 400°F. In small bowl, stir together Bisquick® mix, 1 cup of the cheese, the water and egg; set aside.
  • 2
In ovenproof 10-inch skillet, cook beef over medium heat about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until brown; drain. Stir in ketchup, salt and tomato sauce. Heat over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until hot. Pour Bisquick® mixture over top.
  • 3
Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup cheese.

Tips from the Betty Crocker Kitchens

  • tip 1
Beef mixture can be microwaved. For step 2, crumble ground beef into microwavable 2-quart casserole. Cover and microwave on High 6 minutes, stirring every 3 minutes, until no longer pink; drain. Stir in ketchup, salt and tomato sauce. Cover and microwave on High 4 minutes or until hot and bubbly; stir. Pour Bisquick® mixture over top. Continue with step 3.
  • tip 2
Use ground turkey breast instead of the ground beef.
