EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

When you're making cutout cookies, always work with well-chilled dough. Cold dough rolls out smoothly, with less sticking. The cookies are easy to cut, remove, and transfer to baking sheets, and they hold their shape in the oven.

I, too, have been using this recipe for over 20 years, if you find the dough too "wet" or "sticky" try chilling it for at least an hour. I use a basic frosting tinted different colors depending on what cutters I use. BEST EVER BASIC SUGAR COOKIE RECIPE !!

This is the best sugar cookie ever tasted! You do need to follow directions exactly, and let it chill in the fridge at least a couple hours. I find it helpful to put the dough back in the fridge when not rolling it out to keep it from getting too soft. I have been using this recipe for over 30 years! The kids love it! I also use tub frosting to frost the cookies for holidays.
