I am new to decorating cupcakes. These look adorable. As I was reading the directions on how to and what to use to decorate, I thought the verbage was not detailed enough. Candy eyesfor eyes. Not a clue on this. And not sure on the Spider how the legs are tucked in or on and the nose not nearly enough info. I will probably try to make them, but the directions could have been more detailed for us novice decoraters.

Fun activity, but I used regular cake mix. To get red ooze when you bite into it get a "Bismark" cake decorating tip and use jelly or glaze in a decorating bag. Insert the tip into the cupcake and squeeze the filling into it - do not over fill. Have fun

I see that one reviewer struggled with the garlic press and I would think that would be a pain. I think using Chocolate sprinkles as the hair would work and much quicker too. Now I have to figure out how to get either a green or red ooze to come out of the center when you bite into it....any ideas anyone?

I found the cupcakes themself to be very good..however decorating them was a nightmare! The whole garlic press/gum drop experience was one the whole family will remember. Once the gum drops were threw the garlic press, they became very sticky and hard to handle and instead of cute little pieces of hair, we ended up with one big glob. To save the whole cupcakes, I ended up just putting spiderwebs where the "hair" was supposed to be. I must have done something wrong, and will probably try again, but was disapointed at the time that was spent on something that was supposed to be so easy.

They were a hit, and I was an envy of all the parenets. They weren''t so hard to make and they looked beautiful. However I did learn that Black Licorice is not a favorite among pre-schoolers so I would probably just stick with the scarecrow ones until my children get older.
