Savory Sweet Potato Pan Bread

Great bread idea! This sweet potato bread is baked using two types of Gold Medal® flour in less than an hour.

Ingredients

cups uncooked shredded sweet potato (about 1/2 potato)

cup sugar
1/3
cup vegetable oil

eggs

cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour

cup Gold Medal™ whole wheat flour

teaspoons instant minced onion

teaspoon dried rosemary leaves, crumbled

teaspoon baking soda
1/2
teaspoon salt
1/4
teaspoon baking powder

tablespoon sesame seed
  • 1 Heat oven to 350°. Grease bottom only of round pan, 9x1 1/2 inches, with shortening.
  • 2 Mix sweet potato, sugar, oil and eggs in large bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients except sesame seed. Spread in pan. Sprinkle sesame seed over batter.
  • 3 Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm.

Expert Tips

If you don't have a round pan, you can bake the bread in an 8x8x2-inch square pan.

Top off warm wedges of this savory bread with Orange Butter. To make, beat together 1/2 cup softened butter, 1 teaspoon grated orange peel and 1 tablespoon orange juice. If desired, chill about 1 hour to blend flavors.
