Very tasty! I used Ground turkey and bread crumbs instead. Didn't have onion so I added onion powder and used BBQ sauce instead of ketchup. Great recipe to adjust to satisfy most taste buds!

I just tried this recipe today. I cooked it for my family and in-laws. I used the 1/4 teaspoon dried sage leaves, and the 3/4 cup Quick cooking Oats. I finely chopped the onions in a food processor so my kids couldn't see them and I used Soy Milk instead of milk due to food allergies. I also read some of the reviews and then decided to add 1/2 Tablespoon of Chilli powder and 1/4 cup of BBQ sauce to the mixture. I also took another reviewer's suggestion and added Bread slices to the bottom of the loaf pan so that the hamburger grease was soaked up during baking. I omitted the sauce from the top of the loaf due to the fact that some family members preferred Ketchup over BBQ sauce. It took 1 hour and 30 minutes to cook using a 9 X 5 loaf Pan. Everyone LOVED it! It was a very big hit. It was packed with a ton of flavor, it was moist (not soggy), and everyone was able to add there choice of sauce on it. I paired it with Green bean Casserole and rolls. I was told that the casserole was a nice compliment to the meatloaf and that I was an amazing cook. The great part was that I am so not a cook and this was my first time cooking meatloaf. I highly recommend this recipe. It was quick, easy, and fun. Thanks you Betty and to the other reviewer's for all your great suggestions!

I received a Betty Crocker cook book as a wedding gift over 25 yrs ago and this is the Meat Loaf recipe in it. I tried only because it was so different than my Mom's. (I never cared for hers she used oatmeal instead of bread crumbs and tomato sauce in it. Anyway we loved it! Now 5 kids later this is one of the most requested dinners. They say the best part is the leftovers for sandwiches. I follow the recipe using bread crumbs and chili sauce. Sometimes I add about 1/4 cup chopped green pepper.

This was not a good meatloaf. I'm confused as to how so many people loved it. I will go back to my own recipe which includes allspice, seasoned salt, garlic powder, liquid mustard, ground pork, and ketchup mixed in with the meat, as well as on top of the meatloaf. These are flavors that should be required in a meatloaf. Betty's recipe was very bland. The consistancy was very spongy. It was difficult for my family to choke this one down. Will not be making this ever again, and I encourage others not to as well.

THIS DISH WAS VERY EASY TO DO. I JUST ADDED BBQ WTH THE KETCUP (SWEET BABY RAY'S) AND TWO CLOVES OF GARLIC TO THE MIX. THE HOME SMELT WONDERFUL, AND EVEN THE NEIGHBORS COULD SMELL THE DISH. ALSO, SLICES OF BACON ON TOP AS WELL. JEFF

It's the best since my first time in 1975! Bacon wrapped or topped is even better! No onion, just put half a bag of onion soup powder in, it's even better! My only all time favorite is Betty.

I grew up hating meat loaf but recently tried a friends and it was amazing and moist! I decided to maybe give a try again and plus my fiance loves it. I found this recipe and scanned through the reviews and decided to give er a whirl! It turned out great! Full of flavor and very moist! I will however put BBQ sauce into the mixture as well as on top next time! Sweet Baby Rays Hickory Brown Sugar BBQ sauce really gave it a nice added flavor on the top! I will be cooking this again for us and for small dinner parties, couldn't believe how easy it was either!
