large onion, chopped (1 cup)

bottle (12 oz) India pale ale

can (15 oz) Progresso® black beans, drained, rinsed

jar (32 oz) sauerkraut, drained

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. In 5-quart Dutch oven, cook sausages about 10 minutes, poking sausages to release fat. Drain fat.
  • 2 Add onion; cook and stir about 5 minutes or until golden. Add ale, beans and sauerkraut. Cover; bake about 45 to 55 minutes or until sausages are tender.

Almost a good dish, but it needs the following changes: leave out the Italian sausages (they don't work with kraut, so save 'em for sausage, peppers and onion sandwiches), throw some dill seeds into the kraut, and DON'T poke the sausages- you want 'em juicy, not dried out.
