Ingredients

3/4: pound bulk Italian pork sausage

1/3: cup chopped onion

1/2: cup sliced pepperoni (2 ounces), chopped

1/4: cup ketchup

1: jar (14 ounces) pizza sauce

2: cups shredded mozzarella cheese (8 ounces)

: Baguette-style French bread slices or assorted crackers, if desired

Directions

1 Cook sausage and onion in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until sausage is no longer pink; drain. Stir in pepperoni, ketchup and pizza sauce.
2 Spray 1 1/2- to 3-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Spoon sausage mixture into cooker. Stir in cheese.
3 Cover and cook on low heat setting 2 to 3 hours or until cheese is melted and mixture is hot.
4 Scrape down side of cooker with rubber spatula to help prevent edge of dip from scorching. Serve with bread or crackers. Dip will hold on low heat setting up to 2 hours. Stir occasionally.

A tomato pasta sauce can be used instead of the pizza sauce to vary the flavor. Garden vegetable or mushroom and ripe olive also add bits of veggies to the dip.
