Sauerkraut with Gin

This was a new twist to a sauerkraut side dish that i found while searching the internet.

Ingredients

cups sauerkraut, drained
1 1/2
cups gin
1
teaspoon caraway seeds
1/4
cups butter

Directions

  • 1 Bring sauerkraut, caraway seeds and gin to a boil in a medium sauce pan over medium heat. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer until gin is reduced to less than half, about 30 minutes. Add butter and serve warm. ENJOY!

I am going to try this the next time we have pork and sauerkraut. Normally we cook the sauerkraut for several hours so that it is sweet. I include an onion as well as the other ingredients that you mentioned. I also grind the caraway.
