Saucy Sloppy Joes
lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
lb ground sweet Italian sausage
onion, finely chopped
small green bell pepper, seeded and finely chopped
can (14.5 oz) Muir Glen™ organic fire roasted crushed or diced tomatoes, undrained, pureed in blender or food processor
tablespoon packed brown sugar
tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
teaspoon ground mustard
burger buns, split
In 10-inch skillet, cook beef and sausage over medium-high heat until no longer pink, stirring and breaking up with wooden spoon as necessary.
Add onion, bell pepper, tomatoes, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup and ground mustard. Stir to combine. Reduce heat to low; simmer 10 minutes.
Serve over buns.
Recipe can easily be doubled or tripled.
Toast buns for additional texture.
Top with pickles.
