This is very easy. Everyone loves it and will think it took you hours. I tried it last Christmas and it was a hit.

Saltine crackers

cup butter, cubed

cup granulated sugar

cups semisweet chocolate chips

1 ounce square white baking chocolate

teaspoon shortening
  1. Place crackers in a single layer in a foil-lined 15 in x 10 in x 1 in baking pan. In a sauce pan bring butter, and sugar to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 5 to 6 minutes or until mixture is thickened and sugar is completely dissolved. Spread over crackers.
  2. Bake at 350 degrees for 7 to 8 minutes or until bubbly. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Bake 3 to 5 minutes longer or until chips begin to melt; spread chocolate evenly over crackers. Melt white chocolate and shortening; Drizzle over toffee. Chill for 15 to 20 minutes or until set; break into pieces. Store in refrigerator.
