These brownies come out great - we love homemade dulce de leche in our house. One method for making dulce that none of the reviews mentioned was in a pressure cooker. Wait - hear me out! I was terrified of pressure cookers until I started seriously researching them. Now I have two and use them almost daily. Making the dulce in one is so easy, quick and non-time intensive. Keeping the cans pressurized in the cooker surrounded with water keeps any "explosions" from happening.
After finding directions on the internet, I put three cans of sw.cond.milk into the cooker setting them on a rack to keep them off the bottom of the pan. Fill with water to cover the cans. Put lid on cooker, bring to pressure and cook for 15 minutes. At the end of the 15 minutes carefully move the pressure cooker off the burner and let set overnight until completely cooled. After cooled you can dry off the cans and use or store for future use. I do this every month or so and always have a stash of dulce de leche around for recipes or ice cream topping.
NOTE: Before using a pressure cooker be sure to read the instructions and understand how the cooker works before using. Accidents will happen if you don't. Besides, you will never have any idea how timesaving they can be or the huge range of meals you can make in them unless you research it.
