My family LOVES this cake! Poke cakes are so yummy, and we love the fact that they are "refrigerator" cakes, which are great during the summer! You can use any flavor Jell-O with a poke cake, but our favorite is the raspberry. It is so scrumptious. You won't be disappointed...Just make sure that you plan ahead when you make this, because it does take time to set up and chill, but it is soooo worth the wait!

This recipe was wonderful. It turned out perfect. It tastes like a jelly roll. When reading the other reviews, I don't understand why a few said it turned out soggy. When making the jello be sure to only add 1 cup boiling water and 1/2 cup cold water. Perhaps they made the jello from the box directions. The whipped topping made it nice and light for a cool summer dessert. Next time I will try a raspberry icing. Will definitely make this again.

I too have made this cake for years and is loved by everyone. I add a layer of instant vanilla pudding over the chilled cake then add the cool whip topping. YUMMMMMM Also good with orange jello and pineapple instant pudding.

This is one of the best cakes I have ever made! The Jello keeps the cake so moist and light. I took the suggestion in the recipe and made my own whipped cream because my family does not care for whipped topping. Fabulous! I will make this again and again.

I have to admit -- I was skeptical, but this turned out amazing. Everyone at our 4th of July BBQ LOVED it. I had to smuggle leftovers home.

My 12 Y/O granddaughter made this with very little help, and it was a big hit at the July 4th celebration.

I've made a similar cake with a slightly different recipe and it turned out great. I used only 1 cup (but it was still too much water, next time I'm using 1/2 cup) to the jello (substitute water for favorite soda pop). The 1 1/2 cups tends to make the jello soggy. And don't put the cool whip until the very end, my cake absorbed the cool whip. Next time I'm going to use Vanilla pudding instead.

The liquid does not soak in. I compared it to other recipes and all of them have you poke the holes and pour the liquid while the cake is still warm. WAiting until it cools makes it much harder to soak in. I threw mine away as the liquid just would not absorb. What a mess!

I love making this cake. It is so easy to make and is a real crowd pleaser. I like to substitute the raspberry jello for strawberry (my favorite) and top it with strawberry flavored cool whip (keeping with the theme) and top with fresh sliced strawberries. YUM!

First of all, my husband and I had our good friends coming over at the last minute and didn't have time to run to the store. I raided my pantry happened on the white cake mix box, right on the back read the "poke" recipe, decided to make it. Sounded simple and I had all of the ingredients. Well, they tried it and let me tell you that 13X9 cake turned into a 3X2 cake instantly. My friends, husband and myself LOVED it. It reminds me of my childhood. I make this cake whenever we get together with the same group of friends and the best thing about it, its actually pretty light and low cholesterol.

The last time (ok, and only time) that I made this cake, it was a sloppy mess! I might try it again.. probably not. It was more like soggy cake than poke cake.

My grandma made this about 5 years ago. I love this cake!! I have tried so many different jell-os. The inly complaint I have is that when ever I make it I eat the whoel thing!! It is soo light and moist it doesn't even seem like you are eatting as much as you are. It just melts in your mouth. Soooo good!!!!

I enjoy this cake. The gelatin makes it a different kind of moist. My grandmother made it one time, and I have loved it ever since. It is a very easy cake to make and take. You have the option of makeing it very fancy, or plain. It is a great cake. Thank you.
