This recipe was interesting. The frosting seemed REALLY thick and I considered even adding more cherry cola to thin it out a bit. At first they were really rich and a little too cake like, but I think it was because I didn't let it cool completely. The next day, however, they were amazing! We finished them off and I would have made another batch but I didn't have all of the ingredients!!!

These were good but you can't really taste the cherry cola and I even used extra in the frosting.

AWFUL!! There's nothing cherry tasting about these in the least bit, neither in the brownies themselves or in the frosting! The frosting was way too sweet for me & most of my co-workers, which is where I took them to get rid of them! They're a bunch of very lovely vultures when it comes to free food, but I even had some left!! I dont even want to give this a 1 spoon rating!!

I made this recipe for family & friends and everyone agreed they were fantastic. I did need to alter slightly - added a bit more cherry cola and used a little less oil for the brownies. The frosting recipe I cut by 1/3. Still had more than enough of that fabulous cherry cola frosting for the brownies. Thanks Betty!

I have made these twice and I agree that you can't taste the cherry flavor. I put a foil lining in the pan first then put the batter in. When it's done and cooled, just lift the whole brownie out, makes it easier to cut into serving pieces, using a pizza cutter makes it even easier. ED

I substituted the soda with cherry juice and these brownies were a little too sweet but really good. I do agree that the icing did make too much, but I think if you half the recipe, it might not be enough.

I make these brownies according to the recipe and found them way too sweet. My 10 year old scrapped the frosting off of them to enjoy one. Also I could not take even the slightest taste of the cherry coke. I did not care for this recipe at all, and I will not make them again.

This recipe was AMAZING! I followed some advice and added about 2 tbs. in addition of maraschino cherry juice to the brownie and another 1 tbs. in the frosting. The brownie turned out great and the frosting turned out just fine, I had no problem with the watery factor and I only used one box of powdered sugar (just short of 4 cups) as well as the extra cherry juice and it still came out nice and fluffy and perfect. I recommend this to anyone willing to try it!

I thought this recipe was delicious. The icing is a little soft so I might refrigerate. I used the cherry juice straight from the maraschino cherry jar to mix with the cola for a stronger flavor. Very yummy and easy.

This recipe looks like it got some bad reviews but since I am not a true chocaholic,(sp?) I really liked these brownies. I ate some that a lady brought to work and decided I wanted to make them for my next small group get together.

I made these fora dinner party this weekend because they looked so yummy! They had no cherry flavor at all--tasted just like the boxed brownie mix, like I bought extra ingredients for nothing. The icing recipe made WAY TOO MUCH, it was watery and it didn't taste all that great. I could have made the box mix and left it at that!

I wrote to Betty Crocker Customer Relations as well to let them know that recipe was incorrect and confusing. They sent me a personal reply and fixed the recipe on the site. Thanks Betty Crocker !!! I'll make these this weekend.

To ManCooking, You don't use ready made frosting! There is a recipe with these to make homemade frosting with cherry cola.

So my question is, if you use ready made frosting, do you add the cherry coke to that???? Seems like it would really thin it out. Also do you need to refrig these?????

There were (note the were) major issues with the recipe. I sent them an email and they fixed it!! Yea!! When you see an error, contact them. Made them today. These are good....yummy and moist. Not very cherry, but I think if you add a couple of tablespoons of cherry syrup from the jar of cherries it would be good. I'll try that the next time!!

I just dumped all the brownie ingredients together and mixed them up. I was anticipating a real cherry and/or cola flavor. There was NONE! They were okay but certainly not "cherry cola" brownies. Also the recipe made WAY to much icing. Until someone re-works this recipe I suggest you skip it and just make the box brownies...

The name of the recipie sounded good but had not a clue as to what to do with the brownie mix and when to add the cola. Not sure 1/4 cup of cherry cola would even be enough to get a good cherry flavor. You may want to go back 10 and punt on this one.

OK, Betty Crocker experts, someone needs to rewrite this recipe and include COMPLETE instructions. I share the same comments as other reviewers: when is the cherry cola added? In place of the water? Tried this recipe by replacing the water with cherry cola. Not impressed in any way, shape or form. Sorry...

There needs to be more clarity in recipe directions. This is very inconsistent. Whoever is vetting the review contents needs to notify the powers that be that a mistake (or several) has/have been made in directions so that we may have the proper instructions to make what sounded like a super recipe to begin with. And please hurry with the good instructions because I'm a chocoholic and my mouth is absolutely watering for some of this!
