Comments: Great cake, I loved it. I brought it to work and had several very picky coworkers tell me it was the best cake they ever had. I had a problem with the milk mixture soaking into the cake and my cake sat in the fridge for 24 hours. I ended up having to pour some out. I only wish the cake would have been wetter. I used frosting and coconut. Next time I will skip the frosting and use something a little less sweet, but the coconut is a must. |

Comments: Being on Weight Watchers makes me rework most recipes. For this cake I substituted a Pillsbury Reduced Suagr cake mix, light cocnut milk, fat free 1/2 & 1/2 (for the heavy cream), reduced fat sweetened condensed milk and fat free Cool Whip for the frosting. It was so yummy! Everyone loved it and had no idea all these healthier changes had been made! |

Comments: I was looking for some recipes that used bananas since I had some that were a little too ripe, I came across this recipe. My husband was going to make Puerto Rican Roast Pork, so I knew this would make the perfect dessert. I can't recall if I have ever had a traditional tres leches cake, so I don't have anything to compare it to.
The steps to make this cake were fairly simple...it is so wonderful to have a recipe that uses a cake mix and where you add more ingredients to make it special.
The flavor of the cake was nice and was not to overpowering from the bananas. I bought the frosting that the recipe called for, but after reading the comments I decided to go with whipped topping instead. I used the left over whipping cream from recipe (I purchased a pint) and added coconut flavoring & powdered sugar to the cream after it was whipped. This made the most delicious whipped cream, I could just eat it by itself. I had enough whipped cream to cover the cake in the pan. I also topped it with toasted coconut. The cake did not get very soaked. I looked at another recipe and it call for 3 c heavy cream, can of evaporated milk, can of condensed milk. If the tres leche in this recipe was doubled or tripled then it may have been wetter. Overall I gave it a 5 sppon because it was delicious regardless of how soaked it got. If you want a wetter cake, make more of the tres leche. I have also thought about layering it to get it wetter next time...maybe making it in trifle bowl, cut the cake into pieces and layer the creams...but that would make more steps :) Thanks for a great recipe betty. |

Comments: I made this for a Mexican-themed party we were invited to last week. It was such a hit - I couldn't believe it! I've never received so many compliments on a dessert before. I used 3/4's of the sweetened condensed milk can, and also combined white icing and cool whip together for the frosting. |

Comments: I searched for this because I had half a can of coconut milk left from the Thai Shrimp dinner recipe. Then, I followed other peoples advise and only used 1/2 can of condensed milk. That was just right - I think it would've been too sweet with a whole can. I also used a whip cream topping. We both loved it. It's so nice and moist. I'll definitely make it again. |

Comments: This is a very easy and delicious cake, for not being chocolate. I have recieved many compliments when I have served it. Although it is easy, it does take a long time from start to finish, but you can leave it to cool or soak while you go do other things. Enjoy! |

Comments: Had this for my birthday, which happens to be Cinco de Mayo, and it was a hit. Delicious! My kids made it in the morning and we had it that night. So moist and yummy. It is supposed to be a wet cake so if you're not into that then this cake isn't for you. My husband said that he needed another piece to see if he liked it. (Sneaky way of getting seconds!) We did put Cool Whip on instead of frosting just because I'm not a frosting fan. We will make this again!! |

Comments: Delicious!! I made this last night for our family's Cinco de Mayo dinner. I only used 1/2 can of sweetened condensed milk, 1/3 cup coconut milk and 1/3 cup whipping cream and it was perfect! I also didn't use frosting, but instead iced cake with cool whip. We have so much left over that I'm making my husband take the rest to work! Would definitely make again! |
