i thought that the recipe was very confusing to follow. I didn't realize that you weren't supposed to use the ingredients on the german chocolate cake box and ended up doing double ingredients and the icing was very tasty but unusual for red velvet cake. My cake ended up being terrible. I will try the recipe again another time and hopefully get it right, but i won't be using the icing. My cake wasn't red, but it was brown.

Icing was really bad. I had to add a ton of powdered sugar to it to even get it thick enough to stay on the cake. The flavor of the icing was not good at all. Tasted like butter with flour on it. I would suggest making a different icing for this cake.

The frosting turned out great, but it didn't end up tasting like red velvet cake. It still tasted good, it was just disappointing that it wasn't red velvet cake.

the cake tastes fine but i think the amout of food color isnt enough.. it doesnt make the cake red or anythin near tht.. its almost as brown as the chocoloate cake.. whoch was a bit disappointing...

I like this recipe because of the ease in the preporation. The idea of using Betty Crocker Devil's Food Cake Mix has never Occured to me. Very good and tastey. MMMMMMMM!
