Just took my last batch out of the oven & tasted a cooled cookie. It was very good. I rolled them in powdered sugar instead of granulated & they looked like 3 leaf clovers, not like the picture. I was thinking maybe it was the powdered sugar. Also, my batter was not oily at all, I did refrigerate the dough over night so maybe that made the difference. The cookie tasted like the chocolate crinkle cookies I grew up with. The variations of this recipe are endless with a little imagination. I'm going to try white or yellow cake rolled in cinnamon sugar next. Thank you for an easy, delicious recipe for cookies!!!

this is a really fast and easy recipe to make with the kids. use wooden or metal spoon to mix (we used wire whisk and all the dough gets stuck inside.) This would be great to add mint extract or a hershey kiss when they come out (like the peanut butter blossom cookies at christmas time). These were a big hit and in a pinch you can make them if you have to bring something to a function - totally low cost too! enjoy

Had to make something for a church snack and these were perfect. Made 3 different kinds because I had a lot of cake mixes lying around. Had to alter the recipe slightly for a few. 1) Lemon cake mix - used powdered sugar instead of granule. Out of the three I made, these were the best! 2) Butter fudge cake mix - too goopy, had to add flour (1/4 - 1/2c) just so I make the dough into balls. When I baked them using the granule sugar, the sugar got that burnt flavor so the rest I made rolled in powdered sugar and they were delicious! 3) Carrot cake - came out as potent as a ginger snap. Very heavily spiced. Rolled in regular sugar. Probably won't make again.

My daughter's favorite! Just made yesterday. I add 2/3 cup semi-sweet mini chips and roll in confectioner's sugar. Easy version of the chocolate crackletop cookie. Yum yum!

I make this but a little differently. We use cake mix, 1 egg, 4 drops of vanilla and one 8 oz. container of whipped cream (not whipping cream, a tub of say Cool Whip). Mix the dough together roll into balls and then roll through confectioners sugar and bake. They are ALWAYS a hit.

I used this recipe when my children were little. They are in their 30's now. I never thought of using vanilla. That sounds very good!! I have used lemon cake mix, White cake mix, chocolate and whatever else I had on hand. Quick, easy, and delicious!

Made this cookie with Rolo candy rolled inside each one, then roll in both sugar and pecans. OH MY WORD!!! People were arguing over the last one. Delicious.

**BC reduced cake mix by 3oz. Used competitors 18.25oz mix. Just made these tonight for a cookie exchange, added chocolate and peppermint chips. Yummy. Also made a Christmas cherry cookie using white cake mix, almond extract instead of vanilla. Roll into a slightly smaller ball (did not roll in sugar)top with half a red or green cherry. Drizzle melted choc. chips over the top. Would be equally as good with choc. cake mix and white choc. drizzle.

I used the basic recipe, but substituted chocolate fudge cake mix. I stirred in a package of Reese's peanut butter chips, and omitted the sugar. Super easy, super fast, super delicious!
