Blogger, Barbara Schieving of Barbara Bakes shares her take on classic Mardi Gras King Cake. “A brioche or sweet roll dough is braided, baked in a circle and decorated with icing and purple, green and gold sugars. Kind of like a crown-shaped cinnamon roll all dressed up for a party.” says Barbara.

I agree that you need to make at least twice the amount of icing for it to look like the picture. Also, I had to add about 1 additional cup of flour to have dough I could lift out of the breadmaker without having to pour it out. Other than that--delicious!!

Need to double the frosting recipe as it was not enough for this cake.

I like to put a line of sweetened cream cheese and a line of fruit preserves and roll up like a big cinamon roll log then bake.
