EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

Put a smile on your child’s face by topping this dish with dill pickle slices and serving it with ketchup and mustard! A side of crinkle-cut French fries and a chocolate malt completes the experience.

You can find frozen chopped onion in the frozen vegetable section of the supermarket if you don’t feel like chopping onions.

My kids BEG me to make this. Easy way to get them to eat some veggies. They add their ketchup, mustard and pickles and they are in heaven.

I have cooked this recipe with ground beef and chicken. Adding a pack of onion soup mix to the ground beef while cooking makes the meat so flavorful. When I cook the chicken I use boneless skinless chicken breast and dice it up before baking. I also like to pre-cook the frozen veggies and sometimes I use less than the amount called for. My family will eat veggies but I think too much can be a little overbearing. I'm trying to create my own cheese sauce instead of using canned.

I have traded out the cheddar soup with tomato and omitted the veggies. Everything else was kept the same and it is delish!
