I made this cake for my oldest daughters 3rd birthday. While she was rather excited to have her very own 'castle' it wasnt very party friendly. The cake is rather hard to devide up between the kids. You really need to have a second cake basically. Also with 4 children it was to time consuming and hard to decorate. While it is very cute and for a short time the kids will enjoy it, in my opinion, it just is not really worth the time, effort, and extra money (as you need a second cake in order to make sure everyone gets some).

I don't really know what I am doing wrong but I can't get the cake to turn out at all. It doesn't rise high enough and it sticks if I grease it or not. If anyone has any suggestions....or can tell me what I'm doing wrong I would really appriciate it!

My daughter was turning 16 and she always been a princess, well she asked me to make this cake for her. It was wonderful. Everyone love it. I did add a square cake under it, so that I would have enough cake for everyone. It was perfect. The color was right on point. I would recommend this cake to anyone who has a princess at home.

I used the strawberry cake mix to make this instead of the white one. It turned out just fine other then it didn''t rise enough to make the steps and bottom part of the castle. (I noticed it might happen when I poured it in the pan it looked a little too low to rise that much). Other then that the cake turned out fine on the fist try. I also did not use any flour to coat the pan. I just sprayed it really really good and it slid right out.

For those of you that had a hard time getting the pink color, try using food coloring paste instead of the liquid food coloring. You can purchase it in any craft store. I enjoyed making this cake and it was a great hit.

I rated a 3 because i havn''t made this cake but it is too cute... and to the previous posters.. maybe you can cut the edges of the cake to show the pink only... and/or maybe strawberry cake would be better... just an idea. i am thinking of making this for my daughters 1st birthday! :)
