Three forms of leche, or "milk," are poured over a baked cake to create its signature indulgence. Cake mix and ready-to-spread frosting make it easy.

Ive made this cake a few times, and it comes out great each time. This cake is easy to make and taste delicious. It is very sweet, so instead of frosting, I use a light whipping cream instead. A thin layer is more than enough.

Just made this for a Cinco de Mayo last night! I'd never made a tres leches cake before, so was looking for a recipe that I couldn't mess up, and Betty Crocker's was the one. I thought the fluffy white frosting didn't go too well with the cake - I'd recommend replacing it with vanilla frosting instead. Or, what I ended up doing was putting a thin layer of the fluffy white frosting and topping it with a layer of sliced almonds. Delicious; everyone loved it! I also put cinnamon in one batch, just to give it a little extra kick.

Super-delicious and easy to make! I made this for a cinco de mayo celebration and it was a huge hit! Among the crowd were some tough foodie critics and they said it was among the best tres leches they had ever tasted! I made a lighter frosting from real whipped cream, milk, and instant vanilla pudding (small box) mix. Let the cake soak and chill overnight.

Delicious and fun to make! I made this cake for my friends cinco de mayo party. I used cool whip instead of the frosting for a lighter flavor. Everyone loves it!

This is great. So easy. Poke LOTS of holes all over the cake with a fork. Let it soak in the fridge at least over night. I think longer is best. Definitely use whipped cream (either cool whip or make your own) instead of frosting. Enjoy!

I LOVE Tres Leches cake, but it can be difficult to find. I wanted to find a recipe that I could make easily at home but still tasted great. This was it! We usually have to throw cake away in my house because my family gets sick of it after a couple days. Not w/ this one! Everyone in my house loved it & it was gone before we knew it. I will definitely make this again. Just a tip though- I used a big pronged fork (like you would use for a roast) to poke the holes in the cake. I also made sure the fork went all the way thru the cake to the pan. I found no issues w/ too much moisture or not enough that way. Easy & delicious!

OMG! That's all I could say when finally tasting this cake. The most difficult part was waiting for the milk to soak in. It was fabulous! Even my husband, who doesn't much care for sweets, had two pieces of this incredible, decadent gift. I've never had anything quite like this tres leche cake before, but I will be sure to have lots more now. I did vary the recipe a bit, but only cause I used what was on hand. I didn't have any sweetened condensed milk, so I used Splenda as a sweetener, with coconut milk, evaporated milk, and whipping cream. I also had whipped cream cheese frosting that I used instead of the vanilla. I can't wait to play with this recipe, trying different flavors, and next time, using the sweetened condensed milk. YUM! MUST TRY!

Great recipe! Always a hit. I make the cake per recipe instructions but I serve it with sweetened whipped cream (instead of frosting) and a mixture of papaya, mango and kiwi on the side.

This has become my go to recipe when I am asked to bring dessert. Just recently I used Whipped Cream flavored Betty Crocker Whipped frosting. It isn't as sweet as the fluffy white frosting so its a good balance with the sweetness of the tres leches.
