Made this for Thanksgiving and after reading reviews outlining some difficulties others encountered was very careful spooning the batter into 9 inch cake pans. I made sure cake batter was right to edge to 'seal' praline in. This was a huge hit and not a great deal of work. I used home-made cream cheese icing, not store bought. Absolutely delicious!!

Rarely, if ever, do I get a compliment from my husband on things I make. Everything is always, "fine". Ugh. This cake changed that standard answer - I got a "REALLY GOOD!" and "KEEP THIS RECIPE!" Even my picky 7 year old liked it. Amazingly good cake ... THANKS!

LOVE this! I made a cupcake version, both mini and regular sized. I used Spice cake in addition to the pumpkin pie spice because well, I love rich pumpkin and spice flavored cake. I also poured the praline glaze on top of the cupcakes since you don't flip cupcakes like you would a cake. This was uber moist and soo rich and decadent. This will be my go-to pumpkin cupcake from now on!

This cake is amazing! I took it to a church dinner and it was gone in no time and people were raving about it. I did have the problem of the cake falling apart (almost seems too moist) so the next time I made it in a 9 x 13 pan but it still really fell apart when cutting it into squares. I'd like to make it for a Thanksgiving dinner this year that I am attending and would like to make it in the 8 or 9" pans so that it has a beautiful presentation but am worried about it falling apart....any suggestions out there? Thanks!

You must use the 9inch cake pans or it will overflow onto the bottom of the oven. The first time I made it I thought the oven had caught on fire there was so much smoke! It's a great recipe and everyone always enjoys it!

Are You kidding me, I consider myself a proficient baker. The praline bubbled up all over the bottom of my oven and the house filled with smoke. Happy Thanksgiving

I had none of the problems others spoke of. I made the cake as a layer cake since I wanted it to have a look of elegance for Thanksgiving last year. Though at first my guests (all family) thought they would just have the pumpkin pie I had also made, as soon as they had a taste of this cake, the pie was all but ignored. This cake is simply delicious and I would make it again and again, knowing it can't help but be a hit. In the end, they were begging to also take pieces, no matter how small, home with them.
