I followed other reviews and used half of the water and sugar and wish i would have used a little more. Next time, I'm going to try following the recipie. It still turned out great!

Half the water/sugar and had to cook it for over an hour... BUT you guys have to remember that it's a cobbler. Supposed to be runny!

Simply delicious! My grandmother made this cobbler for just about every holiday for years until about eight or ten years ago when she passed the tradition down to me. It's always been a family and personal favorite as it will be for years to come. FYI... I do not recommend cutting the liquid as some reviewers stated. I have made this cobbler hundreds of times and the liquid will get absorbed if the recipe is followed correctly. I also recommend using a somewhat tart apple as the simple syrup (sugar + water) will definitely sweeten it more than enough on its own and I also prefer to use a touch of apple pie spice which really brings out the flavor ;-)

Like, KSMomof3, I didn't read the reviews first...and I too, usually do! It is STILL cooking as I type and has been in the oven for an hour! I am giving up that the water will evaporate! Definitely cut the liquid from 2 cups to 1....

I usually read the reviews first, but was craving an apple desert so badly, I didn't. I SHOULD have!! Although this has an excellent taste, it wasn't the consistency I was looking for. It did look like the pic, but next time I will take the suggestion of cutting down the water. Delicious but gooey! Also took longer than 45 minutes to bake (I think it's cause I was waiting for the water to evaporate) Lesson learned :)

this cobbler was excelent and my hussband and kids loved it. i did also only use half the liquid and still it seemed like to much so i just used enough to cover the apples thoroughly and then put it in the oven and about half way through baking added just a lil more. worked out perfectly! defently something i would make again.

I made this apple cobbler and everyone LOVED it. I cut the water to 1 1/2 cups. Put a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream on it and viola!...by far the best dessert I've had in a long time. The only trouble is I've added about 5 lbs. since I started making it. When I run out, I make another one.

I modified this recipe after reading comments about too much liquid. I used only 1 c. sugar and mixed it with the cinnamon and apples before placing the apples on the rolled out crust. It turned out great!

This was not a very sweet apple dessert. I think the pastry needs some sweetening. We ate it with ice cream, hoping for a cinnamon roll/apple pie taste and we were quite disappointed. Not worth the (considerable) effort, in my opinion. I'd rather make a simple apple crisp.

I used 1/2 the liquid...it just seemed like too much! Family loved this dessert served with vanilla ice cream!
