I just made this for my daughter's 4th B-Day. It fun to make and she loved it, her face lit up when she saw it :0) The hard part was the top tier I used spaghetti noodles to keep it in place.

Not as easy as it looks. We watched the video and read and reread the instructions. Left the cake in the freezer as instructed. However, when I tried to build the cake the top tier (3 - 2 inch squares) kept falling over and when we tried to ice the cake, crumbs were everywhere from the second tier and it just made a mess. I see that a lot of people had fun with this cake, but it is definitely NOT FOR EVERYONE!

I made this using mini marshmallows, Smarties, pink jelly beans and small edible pearls for decorations. I do suggest splitting the strawberry wafers in half, because they fall apart in layers after a short time on the cake. Also, I did have a very hard time frosting the top tier and it leaned after I added the cone on top. Otherwise, it was as I expected from reading the reviews and watching the video. This cake was very pretty and I would make it again.

When my son asked for a "Crush the Castle" cake for his 4th birthday, I was at a loss. Then I found this easy castle cake plan! I adapted it for a boy, using chocolate frosting and pirouette cookies for a drawbridge. It turned out great! I even included some little knights, a catapult (with Whoppers candies for cannon balls that the kids shot at the castle cake), and a big green dragon hanging off one of the castle turrets: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v495/vininger/cakes/DSC_0154.jpg This year my daughter is asking for a "Princess Peach Castle" cake for her 3rd birthday. I'll be making this one again, with white and pink. It takes a little bit of time to put it all together, but it's so worth it!
