Ingredients

cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour

cup granulated sugar

tablespoons poppy seed

teaspoons baking powder
1
teaspoon grated orange peel
1/2
teaspoon baking soda
1/2
teaspoon salt
1/2
cup vegetable oil
1/2
cup orange marmalade
1/2
cup orange juice
2
eggs

Powdered Sugar Glaze

1/2
cup powdered sugar
2
to 3 teaspoons milk

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom only of loaf pan, 8 1/2x4 1/2x2 1/2 inches or 9x5x3 inches, with shortening. In large bowl, mix all Bread ingredients with spoon; beat 30 seconds. Pour into pan.
  • 2 Bake 8-inch loaf 45 to 55 minutes, 9-inch loaf 40 to 50 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
  • 3 In small bowl, mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth and thin enough to drizzle. Drizzle over loaf, allowing some to drizzle down sides.

I love breads with poppy seeds; i made this with the 1/2 cup orange juice and 1/2 cup marmalade and wasn't crazy about it. I'm going to make it again and substitute both items with 1 cup very ripe mashed bananas; i think the flavor combination will be great!
